Process
- Get the internship offer or qualification from the company or organization.
- Ask the internship unit to issue proof or an agreement that clearly states the internship time, location, and content.
- Get the internship unit seal on the internship proof or agreement and on the visa/residence permit application form.
- Fill in the PKU internship endorsement application form.
- Submit the materials to your department for review.
- After department approval, submit the materials to the International Student Office.
- Wait for the International Student Office review. PKU says this review usually takes about 5 working days.
- After approval, take all required materials to the Beijing Exit-Entry Administration to apply for the residence permit internship endorsement.
Do not start the internship until the endorsement has been added to your residence permit.
Timing And Rules
- Public security processing usually takes 8 to 15 working days.
- Each endorsement should not exceed 6 months.
- The endorsement cannot extend beyond the validity of your study-type residence permit.
- Do not alter or correct the visa/residence permit application form after filling it in.
- If you change internship units, you must apply for a new internship endorsement.
- If the internship is outside Beijing, both the PKU consent letter and the company consent letter should include the detailed office address.
- If your student status changes during the internship, such as suspension or leave from school, follow PKU’s residence permit cancellation requirements.
- PKU may cancel internship eligibility if attendance drops, grades decline, school rules are violated, or Chinese law is violated.
Practical rule: start the paperwork early. The school review plus public security processing can easily take several weeks.
